If you haven't seen it yet I'd suggest you take a look at the short film she wrote called 'Break Free' about her gender fluidity and breaking free from preconceived expectations and stereotypes that she feels she does not belong to all the time. Here's the link if you need: https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=EFjsSSDLl8w<\/a> . It's also really interesting (an a little infuriating) to hear about your experience in the ladies college which perpetuated gender roles by teaching 'skills' typically only thought of for women. How did you feel about it at the time? When I was in high school I went to a modelling and deportment course for a week where we learnt make up, how to speak like a lady, table manners etc, and at the time I simply accepted it as something that was to better me as a person and as a woman. Thinking back on it now I feel frustrated and somewhat disgusted at the focus and importance put on women to present in a particularly feminine and 'ladylike' way, or else face rejection. I felt even more frustrated that I didn't question the sexist lessons at all, however am now thankful I can look back and understand why I as well as everyone else simply accepted this as okay.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[{"id":"95749177","body":"thanks for your comment
\n, it is interesting that you had a similar experience with 'ladies' lessons, i too liked it at the time and only questioned it later :)","dateCreated":"1509707338","smartDate":"Nov 3, 2017","userCreated":{"username":"scoffey5","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/scoffey5","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"95969871","body":"Some terrific comments and reflections on here! It shows that you have got people thinking, which is awesome. Well done on an informative, creative, insightful, and at times very funny wiki reflective diary! You put so much WORK into this! Super well done, and I hope you have shown lots of people your awesome work. It's great to see such strong feminism too. Keep up the good fight! :-)","dateCreated":"1510899867","smartDate":"Nov 16, 2017","userCreated":{"username":"carroll4","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/carroll4","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"96155439","body":"Thank you, I thoroughly enjoyed writing it and think that the wikispaces reflection was such a great learning tool for the course, i wish all my assessment tasks were like this :)","dateCreated":"1512097994","smartDate":"Nov 30, 2017","userCreated":{"username":"scoffey5","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/scoffey5","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}}],"more":0}]}],"more":false},"comments":[]},"http":{"code":200,"status":"OK"},"redirectUrl":null,"javascript":null,"notices":{"warning":[],"error":[],"info":[],"success":[]}}
